Can anyone please tell me if the Parks Dept is dumping their raked and bagged leaves in compost piles throughout parks or are they sending these bags to the dump?

Last year’s leaves have already sprouted a new crop at 6/15 Green. The city says it has reinstated the Leaf Collection program and a truck was collecting this weekend, but few residents have heard. Check out the cycle in my slideshow on the fall leaf cycle in Park Slope:

Wow. I read about this from the East New York Farms List and I just wanted to congratulate the organizers and participants. This is a great example of Gandhi’s idea “be the change you want to see in the world.” I’m out of the country this fall but if I were in NYC I’d definitely want to help! More power to you.

HI Beth, I think that the hours that the gardens will be collecting leaves on those weekends could be posted to maximize the contact between the gardeners and the public. And you don’t want the public to put the leaves outside the garden at 8 pm ; gardens may get sanitation fine.

And it might help pin down the actual time slots that the garden coordinators need to obtain from their volunteers.

Just a thought. Maybe the time slot is not necessary. AS it may vary from site to site. M
